Well, these are not subtle scented candles and there is NO doubt that they are caramel! I was afraid these would be "too little" as a gift, in my handmade votive candle holders, but NO! These are SPECIAL enough to be a great present! Ok, in our family, candles are considered a must have gift for the girls in the family , and some even make their OWN! I don't want to risk burning my house down for a project, so these are at least almost equal to their handmade candles, in my opinion! It does smell VERY carmel-ly and the other scent I bought from ROOT to go with these is the chocolate scent! I think they will be a great holiday combo! Fabulous!!! Nicely boxed, too, if you want to give the whole box as a gift! I might find myself nibbling on them........I thought I would like the lemon frosted scone scent but it's not really all that lemony or bakery smelling. I can't really describe it. It's not unpleasant but it doesn't remind me of anything other than maybe a stale smelling lemon pudding. It's not bright or sweet...very dull. I would not recommend it if you're looking for a noticeable food scent. If you're looking for pretty butter colored candles then, they are nice and burn a long time.Roots makes the best candles hands down! I am a scented wax nut! I have tried every kind of candle, wax melt, scented thing out there and these are superior to every product I have had in my home. They are scented just right (not too much,not too little), they have great color, and they are long lasting. With these candles, after the wick was burnt away I broke up the wax with my hands and put it in my wax melter and the scent was even greater. I will continue to order these for a very long time.You know I was afraid to purchase these scented candles...because I was not actually there to smell them myself. I hoped that I was not getting a pig in the bag. Before I even opened the box I could smell the apples in my whole living room. :)I love these berry-scented votives - They are quite strong and do last for a long time so it's perfect for holiday gatherings and are very nice-looking when lit! The only downside is that the wick is attached to a metal disk at the bottom so it makes sticking them on top of spikes on a candelabrum more challenging.The color on amazon makes it look like a burnt orange, but when I received the candles they were much brighter than advertised. They are definitely not a deep, fall colored orange. They are more a bright, spring colored orange.The seem okay, I can't smell the bayberry much though. I like the color and they burn slow, they are also a good priceOh yum. I'm not sure how to describe these. They really do have a pepper and clove and ' green' scent to them. Very nice. I'm going to burn these year round- even for the holidays.The scent isn't over-powering but has a mild fresh spicy green aroma.
