Rain Scented Candles for Relaxation & Home Decor

My mom is the original hippie when it comes to music, and more or less raised me on this album. A few years ago she lost her copy of the CD in a move, so I went on a hunt, and here we are!The sound quality on this disc is like pure crystal. You can tell when someone did a digital remaster well and when they did a digital remaster poorly, and this remaster is AMAZING. We put it on in the car, and without turning the volume up loudly at all it was like Melanie was in the car with us. There are no "bumps" or tape hiss in the sound, and little subtleties in the music that were probably audible on the vinyl but weren't on the original "Buddah Collection" remaster just came popping right out.If you no longer have a turntable, or you just want a more portable form of this album . . . pick this up. The remaster is amazing, and it was a delight to hear these songs as Melanie originally intended them to be heard.I was excited to find that this classic LP by Melanie was issued on CD and in a remastered form. Her version of Carolina in my Mind and Ruby Tuesday are as good as the originals and the remaining tracks are outstanding. I was 15 in 1970 when I purchased this LP and it bought back so many memories. HOWEVER, there is one major major flaw with it. The original LP version of (Lay Down) Candles in the Rain was almost 6:00 minutes long. Add to that the intro of the fist song, Candles in the Rain and the two songs equaled almost 8:00 minutes in length. This CD has the shortened 45 single version of (Lay down)Candles in the Rain. Huge, Huge Disappointment. Guess I will have to listen to my scratchy LP version for that one song. NOT HAPPY. If you want to hear the complete unabridged version of the song, you can YOU TUBE it. That is the original LP versionI love the album "Candles in the Rain". However, when I purchased this item, "Candles in the Rain/Leftover Wine", I thought I was getting a two album set - one album named "Candles in the Rain" and the other album named "Leftover Wine". The price (thirty-some dollars plus shipping), and the photos, along with the item description, suggested a two album set. However, the item that I received was the album "Candles in the Rain" with an additional song, "Leftover Wine"Replacement Album. "Candles In The Rain" was my First Melanie Album, and I was hookedI definitely would recommend this item. It was in great condition, and would make a great gift for anybody interested in recordsthe c.d. I ordered arrived on time and was in excellent condition.thank you! I love it.This CD is as powerfully moving as the original album in the 70s!The delivery was good but the LP is in very poor condition and I will most likely not listen to it again. The price was good but quality below resale standardSpoilt in my opinion by the exclusion of "Close to It All" and the addition of "Alexander Beetle" (Why did they do this?) but still a great album. Would have given it 5 Stars if it was the same as the original vinyl.Listening to the CD now and wow what an improvement Talking Elephant have done. Well done guys. Sounds soooo much better than the older versions. This was always my favourite Melanie album and features some of her best work EVER.
